VINTAGE SOLID BRASS OPTICAL BENCH STAND
This is a unique, and very heavy, solid brass stand. It has no Manufacturer's markings but the quality suggests that it could have been made by one of the optical manufacturers e.g. Zeiss.
It comprises the following:-
- A felted base (diameter: 13cm ~5")
- Screw knob for adjusting the height (maximum: 39cm ~15.25")
- Screw knob to move a short rack and pinion horizontal rail (length ~8cm, width: 3.0cm)
- Screw knob to clamp an instrument in place.
- The central pole also swivels through 360 degrees
It could have been used on a desk top, laboratory bench, or any flat surface to hold e.g. a telescope, sextant or binoculars. In fact, if you have any idea of its original use, then please get in touch with us via email: sales@mullardmagic.com
The stand is in fair vintage condition with the black paint flaking from the brass. You could leave it as it is or even strip it back to the brass underneath.
