WARNING OF A RISK OF SNOWFLAKES MELTING

WARNING OF A RISK OF SNOWFLAKES MELTING

How I wish for the good old days - when I played with my Dinky Toys - you had a Dinky, well you were a boy.   And in those days the only trans thing I knew about and lusted over was a Trix trains OO gauge Transpennine Express DMU set - I can still remember making my way home from Cubs past Frizinghall Model Shop some time in 1974 gazing in rapturous adulation  at one in their window whilst furiously fingering my woggle and scheming over the impossibility of raising the necessary funds to buy one.

Never did I yearn so much for anything so much until Mrs Mullard Magic came along.....  anyhow, I digress.

The following picture made me smile for those simpler times now lost.  Just look, brother and sister playing with a stationary steam engine model - is it a Mamod, a JL Randall under the guise of SEL or Merit or some other I wonder?

Can you imagine that today... that halcyon rite of passage in setting the curtains aflame with a meths burner or setting fire to  nylon carpet or crimplene eiderdown and completing armageddon with the removal of slices of ill placed appendages by that small but fearsomely sharp circular saw blade?    About as welcome as the aftereffects from a pan-galactic gargle blaster surely?

Today of course such a contraption would be outlawed by a twenty page risk assessment at danger outrage level 5!
