THERE'S NOTHING ON TV DO YOU WANT TO WATCH THE BBC?

This photo says it all, a TV with nohing on.... at least the other subject in this photo has something on though.

I honestly wonder what the first General Manager of the British Broadcasting Company, BBC, John Reith, 1st Baron Reith, GCVO, GBE, PC would make of today's terrestrial TV?  That said, during WW1, Reith volunteered for the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) being commissioned as a Lieutenant - he served at Loos so a clue may be there as to the train of his possible thoughts....
