6112 SYLVANIA CV5007, CV5986 SUB-MINIATRURE DUAL TRIODE
6112, SYLVANIA, CV5007, CV5986, SUB-MINIATRURE DUAL TRIODE
6112 sub-miniature dual triode preamp tubes that are labeled 'JAN' Spec (read: Joint Army/Navy Specified to highest quality, performance, life cycle). These were manufactured in the USA by Phillips ECG (aka Sylvania) during the mid 1980's, the most advanced last days of the US tube manufacturing industry...the quality and consistency is top notch.
These advanced types were used in the more modern miniature military communications equipment in aircraft and also early computers. Circuit designs using these vacuum tubes had the strategic advantage of not being affected by a nuclear event (where as solid state components would be rendered inoperable after the electromagnetic pulse of a nuke).
The 6112 is a high mu twin-triode featuring "flying leads" which are meant to be soldered in place, alternatively, a socket may be used. Commonly referred to as the 'mini' 12AX7...and use for similar circuit requirement in miniature designs. Because of it's high Mu and gain, is the most desirable for audio designs and the rarest and hardest to find of the sub-miniature series.
