A 1940s Bell Set No 41 FBR 11 / Vintage GPO Bell / Vintage Telephone Bell / Vintage Telephone Bell
Bell set number 41.. It also has a printed circuit diagram on the inside of the door. This is a genuine GPO bell set that would be of great interest to a collector. It could be converted to make an ideal extension bell with a nice loud, old fashioned ring. It has an old fashioned hardwood case which helps to amplify the sound and if polished it will look and sound great.
The Bell set No 41 was introduced in 1946 for use with the newly introduced Telephone 310 - a telephone with 'Call Exchange' button for use on 'Shared Service Separate Metering' party line telephone. The 'slow to operate' relay was required to prevent 'bell tinkle' when the other party was dialling.
This bellset measures 9 3/4 inches by 6 7/8 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
The Bellset 41 CANNOT be used in place of a Bellset No1 or Bellset No 25 as it has no induction coiln coil. It can, however, be used as an extension bell by following the wiring instructions below: -
- Remove links 8 - 9 and 6 - 7.
- Connect a 3.3K resistor between terminals 7 and 8.
- Connect white of the line cord to terminal 7.
- Connect Blue of the line cord to terminal 9.
- Insulate the red and green wires of the line cord. These are not used.
