VINTAGE GPO BELL No 1A
On offer today we have a wall monyed Bell 1A l comprising of a 1000 ohm magneto bell operating at 16Hz and housed in a wooden box. The bell is fitted with 2.5in gongs Bells-gongs No. 17 - Steel - bronzed with concentric hole
This bell has no induction coil or other components and CANNOT be used as a direct replacement for a Bellset No 1 or Bellset No 25 so cannot hence be used as the only Bellset on a Candlestick or Telephone No. 162.
A Bell No. 1A can be rewired to work with modern telephone sockets by implementing the following changes: -
- Remove the metal link between terminals 2 and 3 and insert a 3.3K resistor
- Obtain a spade ended line cord.
- Connect the white wire of the line cord to terminal 1
- Connect the blue wire of the line cord to terminal 4
